January 7 - January 14, 2020
LehighSiliconValley takes you to the San Francisco Bay Area – the hub of entrepreneurship that spawns countless new enterprises with their breakthrough technologies, next-generation software, and trend-setting social media. This highly selective immersive experience is a 3 credit course open to all sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, and Lehigh alumni from any discipline. The “live case” learning environment focuses on real companies, real players, and their real situations in real time. Students meet with experts, tour spaces, and begin to learn how to apply these lessons within their own entrepreneurial journey.
You arrive on Tuesday, January 7 at the 4-star Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport Hotel for a kick-off dinner that will excite the imagination for what lies ahead.
The next day begins our journey. Your time will be divided between the Lehigh@NasdaqCenter space located in the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center in downtown San Francisco and visits with companies located between San Francisco and San Jose. We will spend quality time with key players in the venture community who make the dream possible for the next big thing. You will be in constant contact with proven entrepreneurs, inventors, VCs, product design experts, and others who play a key role in the building of new enterprises in a dominant startup ecosystem.
As far as the weekend, Saturday will have daytime programming and then there will be time to explore San Francisco on your own Saturday evening and Sunday. We’ll then continue the live case experience and visit even more startups and amazing entrepreneurs in the surrounding Silicon Valley and wrap up with dinner on Tuesday, January 14.
NEW THIS YEAR:
A select group of students will be invited to participate in LSV++ - a 3 day externship experience at a Silicon Valley company that could include startups, VC’s, innovation driven companies, art organizations, etc.
LSV++ will begin immediately following LSV on January 15 and will conclude on January 17. LSV++ will be offered to select students who wish to stay in the Bay Area for 3 additional days to do an externship at a company related to their interest.
Startups, VC’s, Law firms, arts organizations, innovation focused companies, etc. will be the externship sponsors. Students will apply to be placed in an externship for 3 days at an additional cost for room and board. Companies will provide a designated supervisor and a specific project to the externs. All the work will be real world and Silicon Valley specific!
During the LSV2020 application process, students can indicate if they would like to be considered for LSV++. Select students will then be invited to interview for LSV++ once they have been accepted into LSV2020.
