Lisa Getzler is Executive Director of Lehigh University’s Baker Institute for Entrepreneurship, Creativity & Innovation, which is designed to create a culture of entrepreneurship across the university, promote innovative thinking and foster the realization of entrepreneurial ideas. In this role, Lisa is responsible for creating the strategy and programs and overseeing operations of the Institute.
Her work includes guiding undergraduate students through the early stages of venture creation as well as helping them find their entrepreneurial spirit if launching a startup is not what they are ready to do. Lisa has developed assessment tools for student performance in multi-disciplined, team-based, immersive learning environments. The innovative assessment measures she developed for Lehigh's Integrated Product Development Program (IPD) have been recognized as best practices in assessment of student performance and have been adopted by programs across the country. These works have been the basis for grant partnerships with peer institutions, garnering NSF funding and have been recognized by ABET, the accrediting agency for academic programs in applied science and engineering technology.
Lisa is a member of the founding team that has brought TEDxLehighRiver to PBS39's studios at SteelStacks and Allentown's Miller Symphony Hall, and serves as its curator. As an entrepreneur, Lisa founded and operated a boutique interior design company and early in her career was theatrical producer and director. She credits much of her entrepreneurial mindset and success to her deep roots in the world of performing arts. Lisa was honored with Lehigh University's Hillman Award for her "major impact on advancing the role of entrepreneurship at Lehigh." She was also named a Lehigh Valley Business "Woman of Influence" for her contributions to entrepreneurship education and the community. She was instrumental in the launch of Lehigh University's partnership with the NasdaqEntrepreneurial Center and previously served on their executive board.
